This PBS Newshour video investigates the threat of terrorism in the United States in light of the Paris attack through an interview with John McLaughlin, a former deputy director of the Central Intelligence Agency. McLaughlin claimed that the threat is now escalated with the presence of jihadists with Western passports in Syria, who may return to the United States and Europe. This threat is mitigated with the Department of Homeland Security and watch-lists. McLaughlin confessed: “I think we are now in an era where the new normal is this kind of attack, and most intelligence specialists will tell you to expect something like this to happen in the United States at some point.” Thus, the United States under threat from lone wolf terrorism in the Homeland.
